Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information: name, phone number, email address, and password used to create and secure your account.
• Location data: the Driver app collects precise location, including while the app is in the background, to dispatch trips and share live position during active trips. The Employee app collects precise location only while the app is open, to show your position on the map and track your ride.
• Photos and documents: profile photos for all users, and for drivers, identity and compliance documents (national ID, driving licence, vehicle registration, insurance, and related certificates) uploaded for verification.
• Government ID: national ID, passport, or alien card details submitted by drivers for identity verification.
• Financial information: bank account and M-Pesa details used to pay out driver earnings. We do not store card numbers; card payments are processed by our payment providers.
• Trip and usage data: booking history, ratings, incident reports, and app usage information needed to operate the Services.

How we use your information

We use this information to provide and improve the Services: matching drivers with trips, navigation, calculating fares and payouts, verifying driver identity and documents, customer support, safety and incident response, and legally required record-keeping.

Sharing with third parties

We share data only as needed to run the Services: mapping and routing providers (Google Maps, OSRM), payment processors (Safaricom M-Pesa, Paystack, Stripe) for payouts and payments, and SMS/email/push notification providers to deliver OTPs, receipts, and trip alerts. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your cookie preference, and, where you consent, analytics and advertising cookies to help us understand site usage and improve our marketing. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to manage your preferences.

Data retention

We retain account and trip data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Trip, invoice, and payment records are retained for at least seven years to meet Kenyan tax and accounting record-keeping requirements. Driver verification documents are retained for the duration of the driver's active status plus the period required by applicable transport and licensing regulations. When retention is no longer required, data is deleted or anonymised.

Data security

Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. Access to driver documents and identity information is restricted to authorized personnel for verification purposes.

Your rights under the Data Protection Act, 2019

As a data subject under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to be informed of how your data is used, to access the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate or outdated data, to request deletion of your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner if you believe your rights have been infringed.

You can update most account details directly in the app. To request access, correction, or deletion of your data, delete your account from within the app (Profile/More → Delete Account), follow the instructions on our Delete Account page, or contact Metroberry support. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time as required by law.

Children's privacy

The Services are not directed at children, and drivers must be of legal working age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date above.
